2008 Election: A Look Back

Pat McCrory, Republican Candidate for Governor, visits Franklin for an event hosted by the six far western counties of North Carolina. Hundreds were in attendance to hear the candidate speak.
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole spoke to supporters at Macon County Republican Headquarters in Franklin, NC. She is shown above with our beloved State Senator Bob Carpenter who introduced Dole.
Following her remarks Senator Dole takes time to speak to area residents on their concerns.
Charlotte Mayor and candidate for N.C. Governor, Pat McCrory met with a Macon County delegation in Charlotte. The meeting was scheduled to enable McCrory to speak with local residents and learn, first hand, of
the problems facing mountain areas.

Macon County Voting Precincts:
There are 15 precincts in Macon County, and each precinct has officials who are appointed by the county board of elections for renewable terms of two years. These officials conduct the election in their precinct by tallying the votes, assisting voters and forwarding election results to the county board office. The board members then tabulate all totals and certify the final results.
