We are compiling a list of topics and questions to ask the candidates, but we want your input to make this debate as helpful to the voters as possible. If you have a question/questions that you would like to have answered by these candidates, please send an email to info@macongop.org. We will look at each question submitted and add as many as we can to the list for the debate. Please understand that not all questions will be able to be used due to time constraints, but we will do our best.

Please help spread the word to others that may want to submit a question. While our email list is large, it is not complete and we would love to have as much feedback as possible. Questions can be submitted until February 6th.

The debate will be on February 8th. Another email will be sent out with all of the details.

We are looking forward to this opportunity to help the voters. Thank you for your help.

Guest speakers are:

Kevin Corbin

Nc State Senator

District 50

Kevin Corbin is a Republican member of the North Carolina Senate, having represented the 50th district since 2021. Corbin previously served 2 terms in the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 120th district from 2017 to 2021. An insurance executive from Franklin, North Carolina, he also served as a member of the Macon County board of commissioners from 2011 to 2016 and served 20 years on the Macon County School Board

Barbara Arthur

On August 29, 1969, Barbara, her father and two of her siblings fled Communist Cuba on the U.S. Freedom Flights. But Castro’s regime would not allow her mother and three of her siblings to leave the island. Barbara’s family was separated for 23 years! Life was difficult, but Barbara made the most of her new-found freedom in the United States.

In 1993, Barbara’s focus changed forever when she asked the King of Kings to take His rightful place in her life. Since then, she has served as a Christian speaker, speaking in churches from Montana to Miami.

In 1997, Barbara married former State Representative, Warren Arthur. They celebrated 26 years of marriage this past August. They reside in his hometown of Hartsville, SC. They have a blended family of eight children and seven grandchildren. They own and operate a small insurance business for the past 25 years.

In 2021, having expressed no previous political ambition, Barbara ran for the US House of Representatives for South Carolina’s 7th Congressional District. Barbara explains why:

My family did not flee Cuba to once again suffer under the iron fist of Communism. As a patriotic American who proudly earned my citizenship, I simply cannot stand-by while this administration recreates Castro's Communist Cuba in the United States.”
